Ceramic and graphite materials are used in various equipment of the glass industry, when melting or forming glass.

The glass industry is usually divided into:

  • optical and special glassware;
  • packaging production (bottles, cans, etc.);
  • manufacture of sheet glass.

The following requirements are imposed on ceramic and graphite products for the glass industry:

  • corrosion resistance;
  • mechanical strength;
  • wear resistance;
  • no introduction of impurities into the material being processed;
  • resistance to heat shock (heat resistance);
  • fire resistance;
  • stability of shape and preservation of strength to the maximum operating temperature;
  • non-wetting of glass melts;
  • low coefficient of thermal expansion.
